The 10,000 Hour Rule
The 10,000 hour rule is a concept that claims the best way to develop what's called "world-class skill" is to have at least 10,000 hours of experience using the skill. We can debate this approch as a fact, but the basic concept is true. I order to be really good at something, you have to put in the work. But not just the hours, you'll need "quality work".
Learning the how to take lay-ups takes hours, and is an essential part of your basic skills. But after you have mastered that skill, to be really good, players need to use even more of their practice time converting those shots against "live" defense. The same can be said about practicing your ball handling and dribble moves. We start off by ourselves in open space, then maybe progress to cones; all this to build muscle memory. But to truly master this skill you will have to clock your time on "good live defenders". Our skills program will help sequence you through those important step and work with you until we get it right.
Here's the secret that I've learned in all my years working with young athletes, the only real difference between most players is their level of confidence. At the RUN-SHOOT-DEFEND BASKETBALL CAMP, you will gain that inner confidence, that comes from knowing that you have put in the time and the work, to contribute well on any team.
IN BASKETBALL, SKILLS ARE TOOLS THAT WE USE TO FIGHT WITH IN THE GAME.
THE "GAME" REPRESENTS A BATTLEFIELD.
LIKE CHESS, KNOWING HOW THE PIECES MOVE IS NOT ENOUGH; YOU STILL HAVE TO LEARN THE GAME.
